Notes of a Knitter with huge dreams

10.28.2003

I finished both mittens and they were very easy to make. I was done with one glove after the flight from DC to Anchorage (7 hours) and they were very easy to do- I think I'll make more. I don't like those really bulky mittens so I used smaller needles and they are now a perfect fit.

Now that I have nothing to make I have pulled out my Knitting Guild papers. I am thinking about submitting work so that I may be an "advanced beginner" knitter. I've had this packet for over a year of course now that I want to use it the form has been revised and they are mailing me a new one. Great. I have to wait around.

I got my cards!!!!! How exciting the were here waiting for me at work today. I think they are so cute. They aren't overdone at all and they came pretty quickly.

I was in Alaska for AFN the last 5 days and it was great! I had such a good time. I learned tons. I did recieve a flyer for alaskashop.com. I can sell my items on that website and the people in the villages will be able to buy them. This comes in handy since now I want to start knitting children's coats. They are still in the early stages but so far I am really excited about where this could go. I am know also interested in sewing. I am not really good at it but I can learn.

I completed my 60's scarf and started working on my hat Saturday. The last time I made this hat I made it too long so I made adjustments in the length- cutting it back 2". Well, I tried it on and it was too short- it didn't even really cover my ears! So I had to rip all the way back to where I began decreasing and follow the directions. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself. If everything goes well at the airport I will start my mittens in route to Anchorage.

I purchased 6 skeins of lions brand wool-ez and I am thinking about returning it and buying a more expensive or better quality yarn for the poncho I am making. I'm still making up my mind on this subject.

So I was just thinking about starting a website and now I am pretty mad that I didn't put off the business cards until I got that done. But I guess having 100 cards isn't really that much. Malcolm can get rid of those quickly.

Present Project:
Right now I am making myself a great 60's style scarf and I am so tired of it. I am annoyed with the rib stitch I am doing. It's a beautiful scarf but man I want it to be done already!!!! Next is the hat and I think I can have all that done by the time I hit Alaska I can wear them and look very very cool.

I know I know I know...It's been a minute since my last entry but that's cause in the summertime I was really into my tarot and it was hard for me to get into knitting in the heat. I swear I am the stereotypical eskimo- I hate hot weather. But now that it is cool outside I have my needles out and I'm ready to go!

I've made the decision to move back to Philly and work with children by day and by night I am a knitter. I ordered my business cards today. They are so cute! I opted against the ones with yarn on them because they were a tad bit ugly. I'm holding off on the labels for now. I'm going to wait until someone orders something from me.

Malcolm has been so supportive of me and my life altering plans. I think he can see how happy I have become. I've been so into my knitting lately that I think I am going to get fired for not working. I haven't done anything work related in a long time. I have so many ideas right now- I am getting myself flustered.

Ok- so the plan is to have a links section and also a books reviewed section. Lets see if I can get this to work.
