Notes of a Knitter with huge dreams

1.02.2005

Ok, so I haven't posted in a very long time. I went to Maryland for the holidays. My aunt is the only one who gave me yarn, a Colinette kit. I am thinking about exchanging it for another color because I already made a scarf in that color a couple of years ago. I am busy on 3 projects right now. I am making my mother a Redskins scarf, my aunt a pair of socks, and my forever bag (because it is taking me forever to complete). I gave away a pair of wrist warmers as a gift and they came out so good I am going to make some more. I thought they were so adorable. Sorry no pictures.

I started Atkins yesterday after a week on slim fast. So far everything is still go. AHHHHH why is this bag taking forever? I think it has a lot to do with time- I have none. I feel very busy and hungry for sweets, other than that I only really have time to knit right before bed. I hope I can pull through this slump. I want to get to work on the Christmas gifts!

My "tweed" bag that is taking forever!!!! Oh, and note to self... cats like bamboo needles so keep them hidden. Posted by Hello

I went to a Mardi Gras themed Christmas Party and I had my palm read along with tarot. But the most amazing part is the palm reading. I was told that I have a hobby that I stopped for a while but that I need to pick it back up so that it may become more rewarding. WHOA! I totally stopped knitting for like a year and I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Hmmm... if that was right maybe I am also going to have those 3 kids she said.

Well, I am still working on the bag. This is taking a lot longer than I originally thought. I decided to make mittens for my aunt also some socks. I am going to put a twist on the mittens (something Grandma taught me) .

I am still working on my knit bag. I went to Sophie's Yarns to buy some needles and of course I left spending $79. I bought 2 bamboo circular needles, a needle case, and some yarn to make wrist warmers. I think I may give those to my aunt. Who knows. Christmas is 22 days away and the worst part is I spent over $400 paying bills today and we don't get paid again until the 23. So I will be credit carding up my gifts this year. Because I just bought my house I am gonna squeel poor and cheap my gifts up.

I'll post a picture of the bag when I get farther into it, right now it just looks like a block.

I had my first Thanksgiving at my house and it went very well. 8 people in all, Malcolm came. I stopped by The Technicolor Sheep last Saturday and I picked up 5 skiens of Bernat Country Wool (008) it looks just like a light tweed. My plans are to make a small bag for almost everyday use. I found the pattern in Family Circle Easy Knitting Magazine Holiday 2004 issue. I started last night but I need smaller needles because my gauge wasn't right. I went through my needles last night and I have more 3's and 4's then any thing else! I have every size except 6 & 7 so I am going to go back the the store today to pick up those and a needle holder. When I get far enough I will include a picture of it.

James (f) in red and Peanut Butter (m) in purple. Aren't they adorable? Posted by Hello

I bought a new book. The Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits. I like it. I've decided to begin my book reviews and put them online. I have also made two new friends that knit so I am definately going to start a circle here at my house. I am thinking Tuesday evening but I haven't decided yet. I'll ask around and do my research on whats a good day for everyone.

I haven't started anything but I am getting ready to. I mean Christmas is right around the corner. I need to make my list. I have an old picture of my babies too that I want to put up. Aren't they the cutest!?!

Ahhh, almost one year since my last posting!!! I can't believe it. So much has been going on: I moved to Philly, I am a teacher now, I am in grad school and I have the two most adorable kittens in the world.

I haven't started any new knitting projects but I would like to make all my Christmas gifts this year so I need to make my list ASAP before Christmas rolls around. I bought a new book: Last-Minute Knitted Gifts and it looks pretty nice. I haven't chosen one yet that I want to do. I would love to know what other people think of the knitting books that you own- like a critique so I don't make the same old mistake of buying whatever I see in Borders. Also, I would like to begin a Knitting Circle at my house. Is this a terrible idea? I need feedback.
